It’s All ‘Plain-Sailing’ For Sea Cadets After William Davis Comes To The Rescue

Wednesday 18th September 2024

Award-winning housebuilder William Davis Homes has come to the rescue of a group of Sea Cadets in Leicestershire.

Loughborough Sea Cadets were left high and dry when repair work to their jetty was left incomplete. The project had to be abandoned last year after a contractor was unable to finish the work.

The Sea Cadets’ appeal for help was answered by Loughborough-based William Davis Homes, which has donated £1,500 towards the much-needed repairs.

“When we heard about the difficulties faced by the sea cadets, we were keen come to their rescue,” said the Group Sales and Marketing Director at William Davis, Michele Rose.

“The Sea Cadets carry out great work for young people in the local community, but the incomplete jetty meant they couldn’t provide a full range of water-based activities. So we were keen to ensure it was all ‘plain-sailing’ as far as the repairs were concerned.”

The money donated by William Davis Homes has paid for the supply of concrete for the project. With additional help from several other companies, the Sea Cadets are now looking forward to using a brand new jetty at their Beeches Road headquarters.

There are currently 38 members of Loughborough Sea Cadets, with young people from a wide area, including Melton Mowbray. The Commanding Officer, Sub-Lieutenant (SCC) Paul Browning RNR, said the assistance of local firms had been invaluable:

“We got in touch with William Davis Homes because it’s a long-standing local company with an excellent reputation,” said Paul.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the firm’s help because having the jetty repaired means we’ll be able to provide a great range of activities on the water, including kayaking, rowing and using our power-boats.”
